In the early days of winemaking in the Clare Valley the local community would often help each other during the busy times of the season. After delivering lunches to workers pruning vines in the middle of winter one year, Annie Wayman's horse-drawn cart struck difficulty in negotiating the muddy track back to her cottage. From that day on, the track has been affectionately known as Annie's Lane, and today borders one of our major vineyards in the Clare Valley.
The Annie's Lane Cabernet Merlot is a great example of this traditional red blend. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the structure to this wine while Merlot's fleshy plum fruit fills out the mid-palate.

South Australia’s stunning Clare Valley is an enigma. Its ability to produce full-bodied reds and delicately floral Rieslings under a continental climate makes it famous for wines of intensity and balance (its secret is cool afternoon breezes to slow down ripening).
Melbourne born and bred, Alex developed a fond affection for the Clare Valley following regular childhood visits to the picturesque wine region to see his grandparents. Alex discovered his passion for wine when he was sixteen, whilst in the Rhone Valley as an exchange student with a French family. Ignited by his surroundings, Alex went on to study viticulture at The University of Adelaide and has spent vintages in Piedmont, Chianti, and along the Mosel in Germany.
