The Story Of Saltram

The Story Of Saltram

Directions

Many of Australia’s most influential and celebrated winemakers have passed through Saltram’s Barossa Valley cellar door throughout the past century and a half. In 2019, it is the winemaking stewardship of Alex MacKenzie that steers this iconic and much-loved label to new heights.

Alex and the viticultural and winemaking teams craft their wares from the many varieties planted including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Barbera, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. Saltram draws fruit from its own 45-hectare vineyard that surrounds the winery and cellar door plus vineyards spread over the cooler hills of the Eden Valley to the warmer areas across the valley floor.

Best known for Mamre Brook - one of the most famous places in the Barossa Valley – to the iconic No.1 Shiraz with a legacy dating back to William Salter and Son’s first planted grapes that produced 8,000 litres of a wine still celebrated today as their flagship Shiraz; Saltram is a much loved and respected producer of quality Australia wines of intensity and finesse.
