Deep in the south of Margaret River, beyond where most tourists venture, stand towering Karri forests, protecting a hidden cave they call the Devil’s Lair.It’s after this unassuming and somewhat shy cave –one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites – that Devil’s Lair is named.Devil’s Lair is fortunate to be able to tread its own path, unrestrained by tradition, with a sense of wisdom that comes from a strong bond with an ancient land. It’s the intuition of a talented team, the freedom to do things differently and the subtlety of the soils that makes Devil’s Lair wine respected for their great clarity, delicate fruit flavours and elegant structure.

Margaret River’s jarrah and marri forests give way to sun, surf, sand – and since the 1970s, some of the most powerful, yet elegant Cabernets and Chardonnays around. It’s also famed for sumptuous Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends.
Vintage Conditions
Generous warm days and refreshingly cool nights in late summer and early autumn produced berries with concentrated flavour, supple depth and fullness. A top up of rain in late January helped retain vine health allowing the grapes to develop to full maturity. The 2018 vintage is a classic and will be rated amongst the finest Cabernets of the past decade.
Ben Miller - Winemaker
After graduating in 1996 and after a short stint in a local winery in the Hunter Valley, Ben Miller travelled and worked in the most coveted winemaking regions of the world like Bordeaux, Champagne, Alsace, Rhone and Burgundy. This experience has served him well as senior winemaker at Devil’s Lair, where his philosophy has been to create outstanding examples of Margaret River’s leading varietals.
