Deep in the south of Margaret River, beyond where most tourists venture, stand towering Karri forests, protecting a hidden cave they call the Devil’s Lair. It’s after this unassuming and somewhat shy cave – one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites – that Devil’s Lair is named.
Offering considerable complexity for its peer group, the The Hidden Cave Chardonnay is elegant yet rich with a strong citrus backbone and subtle French oak influence

"The colour is very light yellow while the aroma has a creamy lees note with a trace of milk powder, and some buttery touches, while the palate is light-bodied and fresh with moderate chardonnay complexity, but it’s not a simple fruit style, either. There’s a curious savoury, sea-brine character throughout, plus a certain nerviness, which seems linked to its minerality. The lack of too-obvious oak allows these other characteristics to be expressed. An individual style. Good value." - Huon Hooke
A youthful wine of white nectarine, crème vanilla and pink grapefruit. Subtle hazelnut and lifted citrus aromas providing freshness and complexity.
Elegant and generous white peach and toasty brioche flavours with a natural grapefruit freshness and vibrancy. Vibrant citrus acidity and a subtle creaminess craft a harmonious, layered and balanced wine.
Margaret River’s jarrah and marri forests give way to sun, surf, sand – and since the 1970s, some of the most powerful, yet elegant Cabernets and Chardonnays around. It’s also famed for sumptuous Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends.
Above average winter rains preceded a warm and dry spring. This lead to fantastic flowering and allowed the vines to flourish with lush balanced canopies. A cool and mild growing season produced fruit with excellent depth of flavour, pristine texture and great persistence.
After graduating in 1996 and after a short stint in a local winery in the Hunter Valley, Ben Miller travelled and worked in the most coveted winemaking regions of the world like Bordeaux, Champagne, Alsace, Rhone and Burgundy. This experience has served him well as senior winemaker at Devil’s Lair, where his philosophy has been to create outstanding examples of Margaret River’s leading varietals.
