Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

A vibrant bouquet of raspberries and blueberries entices you to look a little bit deeper. Upon doing so, you are rewarded with strong undertones of mint and dried eucalyptus leaves, pleasing and patriotic in its combination.

Flavours and Palate

Intense and powerful, the palate is well balanced with cherry fruit upfront. Smooth tannins help to frame the structure with secondary characters bringing balance and excellent length.

McLaren Vale, South Australia

McLaren Vale lies nestled between the Mt Lofty Ranges and the rolling white sand beaches of Gulf St Vincent. With its warm Mediterranean climate, relaxed coastal ambience and superb local produce, McLaren Vale is a melting pot of food, wine and the arts: the ultimate epicurean destination. The region is renowned for its soft and velvety Shiraz, with pronounced berry, spice and chocolate flavours.

Kate Hongell - Winemaker

Kate's career began in 1997 when she worked at a family-owned boutique winery in the Yea Valley, Victoria. Since then, Kate has worked on the Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley as well as spending a harvest in California. Kate has been based in South Australia for the last 10 years, where she has focused on the Barossa and McLaren Vale wine regions. She lives on the family vineyard with her husband and three children, Will, Archie and Sophie.
Kate has been making Ingoldby wines since 2011 and is passionate about delivering the high quality wines that Ingoldby drinkers have grown to love and appreciate.
"At Ingoldby we take pride in selecting small parcels of fruit for our wines each vintage that display the truly unique characters that the McLaren Vale region has to offer," says Kate. "I love McLaren Vale's proximity to the sea. Not only is it spectacular, but the ocean has an amazing cooling effect on the grape vines."
