Coldstream Hills prides itself for having access to many of the best vineyards in the Yarra Valley. These sites are found throughout the upper and lower Yarra Valley with each vineyard providing a range of unique characteristics to the wines. Back in the late 1980s, James Halliday introduced single vineyard wines to Coldstream Hills demonstrating their unique sense of place. The tradition has continued with the on-going release of the Single Vineyard range. Located in the south-eastern corner of the Yarra Valley, the Beenak Vineyard epitomises cool climate viticulture delivering wines of precision and finesse.

"A beautifully textured wine of tremendous depth and power, albeit with a degree of delicacy. Subtle lemon and quince paste notes on the nose, with a nice chalky character and lightly roasted nuttiness. The finish is fine and chalky. From the old Accolade vineyard, close to Gembrook and near the Yarra at high altitude. It ripens a little later and made without malolactic ferment but spent time on lees and in puncheons. 94 Points."
Restrained, yet expressive, with lemon pith and lime, white florals and underlying mineral and nougat notes. Seamless oak is beautifully integrated adding complexity and spice.

Cooler than Bordeaux yet warmer than Burgundy, picturesque Yarra Valley is one of Australia's foremost cool-climate wine regions. An easy one-hour’s drive from Melbourne, the area is home to more than 80 cellar doors. In addition to the huge range of wineries, the area boasts superb contemporary restaurants, authentic rustic farms - and luxury overnight accommodation if the sightseeing gets too much! The fertile Yarra Valley soils produce famously elegant and textured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
A relatively warm start to the growing season with high rainfall, but generally fine conditions during flowering. An unseasonally wet January ensued easing to fine, warm and dry conditions resulting in an early and relatively compressed harvest period. Acid retention was high particularly across the white varieties.
