Coldstream Hills prides itself for having access to many of the best vineyards in the Yarra Valley. These sites are found throughout the upper and lower Yarra Valley with each vineyard providing a range of unique characteristics to the wines. Back in the late 1980s, James Halliday introduced single vineyard wines to Coldstream Hills demonstrating their unique styles. The tradition has continued with the release of the Single Vineyard range.
Coldstream Hills is dedicated to Chardonnay, and the single vineyard range highlights the unique expressions cultivated in the Yarra Valley. This wine From Deer Farm is elegant and textural in style with great length of flavour and beautifully balanced juicy acidity. For lovers of the world's great Chardonnay, this is a wine to drink now or hold in the cellar for up to a decade.

A single-vineyard wine; barrel fermented and matured in 35% new French oak puncheons, vats and barriques. Another, as you would expect, excellent Deer Farm chardonnay. Brightly coloured with aromas of stone fruits, grilled nuts and just a little struck match. Tightly wound, the palate is precise, flinty and very long. Just a word of advice: for maximum enjoyment, don't serve this too cold!
Direct lines of flavour, start to finish. Grapefruit, peach, lemon curd and nougat, with hay and lemongrass characters flittering about. It’s a complexity-in-a-hurry kind of wine, in that it offers plenty but it’s determined to get through to the main show – which is the length of the finish – as fast as it can. It’s good now but time will slow the palate down a bit, and it will then be better again.
Pure and refined with citrus notes of lime pith and lemon curd underpinned by nougat, wet rock/slate and subtle French oak.
Cooler than Bordeaux yet warmer than Burgundy, picturesque Yarra Valley is one of Australia's foremost cool-climate wine regions. An easy one-hour’s drive from Melbourne, the area is home to more than 80 cellar doors. In addition to the huge range of wineries, the area boasts superb contemporary restaurants, authentic rustic farms - and luxury overnight accommodation if the sightseeing gets too much! The fertile Yarra Valley soils produce famously elegant and textured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
A challenging Spring across most vineyards with high rainfall and cold, wet conditions during flowering. Summer began with high humidity, but gradually eased to a mostly dry and stable weather pattern. A relatively late start to harvest with gentle ripening of flavours and excellent acid retention.
