Devil's Lair was founded upon ancient soils in the cool, southerly part of the Margaret River in 1980. Since then, it has built a reputation for producing wines with great clarity, delicate fruit flavours and elegant structure.
The Devil's Lair Chardonnay is sourced from estate vineyards, which are some of the most southerly in the Margaret River region. This wine is a snapshot of Margaret River terroir. Signature grape Chardonnay is enlivened by notes of melon and citrus with a saline backbone. Fans love this elegant wine's structure and long finish. Here's the perfect accompaniment for shrimp, shellfish, or roasted veggies.

A very classy, slinky chardonnay. It sidles up, teasing with smokin’ flinty aromas and flavours, then out pops citrus – all pink grapefruit, lemony and bright, shot with spice, oak merely in backup mode. There’s a purity to this. The palate is beautifully shaped, if finely tuned, with a saline tang and the minerally sensation of the acidity leading this out to a long, long finish. Oh yeah, this has all the right moves, baby. - 96 Points
It’s great to see Devil’s Lair Chardonnay looking in such fine form. Indeed the way this wine combines stonefruit flavours with a distinct brine aspect – and perhaps a whisper of complementary flint too – is a bit special. Citrus, grapefruit and tonic water characters also contribute but the brine-and-peach main current is a ripper. Length is excellent. So too harmony. So too the x-factor derived of tension and fruit. - 95 Points
A wine that strikes immediately with its tension and taut lines. This is southern Margaret River with a fine precision and elegance. The nose initially reveals a spicy cashew and lemon curd character with a restrained creamy custard apple nuance. The palate has a tight minerality with a slightly saline sea spray lift all brought back into line with a fine-grained oak and crisp acid line. Excellent modern chardonnay. - 95 Points
Classic Devil’s Lair aromas of pink grapefruit, melon and crème nougat. Subtle citrus blossom and graphite intermingle, presenting a wine of freshness, flavour and complexity.
Margaret River’s jarrah and marri forests give way to sun, surf, sand – and since the 1970s, some of the most powerful, yet elegant Cabernets and Chardonnays around. It’s also famed for sumptuous Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends.
