Warm the cockles of your heart with this Christmas Spiced Shiraz or serve up to Santa with a plate of Christmas cookies and some fresh meadow hay to pep up the reindeer. Ho ho ho!
Place sugar, orange zest, figs, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, ginger, nutmeg and star anise into a saucepan with just enough water to cover the sugar. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring to dissolve the sugar, until the mixture resembles a thick syrup.
Turn down the heat and add the strained orange juice, apple slices and Yellow Label Shiraz.
Heat gently until warm and serve.
