The nose is bright and inviting, filled with juicy notes of stone fruit and just picked strawberry, bringing to mind the long hot days of summer.
The palate is elegant and balanced, brimming with fresh strawberry and hints of creamy citrus tart before finishing with a refreshing pink grapefruit pith note. All this backed with the natural acidity and a subtle sweetness for a concentrated, balanced finish that will
make you want more.
Home to the oldest vines in the country, and no less than 18 wine growing regions, South Australia accounts for almost 50% of Australia’s wine production. The Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Coonawarra are well known for their world class reds, with Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and Eden Valley praised for their exceptional Chardonnay and Riesling.
Based in Marlborough, Spring grew up in Christchurch and studied photography and sociology at university before taking a shot at winemaking. To get there she worked her way up through hospitality, on to Lincoln University to study winemaking, into the cellar, then the wine lab before becoming a fully-fledged winemaker. Spring’s bubbly personality and creative background is reflected in Squealing Pig wines.
