Cabernet Sauvignon

There’s a reason that Cabernet Sauvignon is the number one most widely planted grape in the world. Not only does it grow well in different locations, but it also produces high quality, bold and juicy wines known for their cellaring capability. In Australia, we’re fortunate to have many world-class producers in many world-class regions. Take a moment to explore the distinct expressions of Penfolds, Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Devil's Lair and St Hubert's.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The story goes that Cabernet Franc met Sauvignon Blanc one day in the rolling hills of regional Bordeaux. They hit it off, went on a few dates, and bing bang boom, Cabernet Sauvignon was born. Ok the story doesn’t quite go like that, but it is true that this much adored, dark and brooding, thick-skinned grape is an offshoot of the two aforementioned varietals. Bordeaux may be its home, but we have cared for it lovingly over our side of the globe. Coonawarra's terra rossa soil always springs to mind, but enthusiasts will always point you west if you want the best (in their opinion), while others revere what this grape can do in the cool terroir of the Yarra Valley. There’s so much to explore and even more to adore.
